The Norwegian Girls ChoirThe Norwegian Girls Choir an amateur choir combining proud traditions with high artistic achievement. The Choir consists of 48 girls aged from 12 to 19. They perform together or in two subgroups: The Studio Choir (age 16 – 19) and the Main Choir (age 12 – 16). Admission is by audition only and the girls begin in two groups for younger girls at age 7 to8 and 9 to 11 respectively. The Norwegian Girls Choir continues a tradition established in 1947 as the former Girls' Choir of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. The Choir holds a strong position in Norwegian cultural life and has fostered a succession of great singers and artists such as the internationally acclaimed opera singer Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz. The Choir works regularly with well-known soloists and orchestras and demonstrates a remarkable flexibility to work with repertoire ranging from the medieval to the contemporary. It has repeatedly been chosen to premier performances of new music both at home and abroad and also performances with internationally established musicians.
